Jesus Holds the Ace

We may want to know what it means to hold the ace. It simply means having all the advantages in a situation or being in a strong position when competing with someone else. Life has often been described as a battleground where dark, uncontrollable forces shape the course of many lives.

Oftentimes the battle rages in many hearts where deep seated fears, anxiety and negative thoughts result in bouts of depression and helplessness.

Jesus warns that the world is not a playing field but a battlefield but He graciously offers a proviso on how to navigate our war torn world saying:

“ These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

In overcoming the world we must know that already Jesus holds all the aces over the battles of life and circumstances and equally offers an over-comers’ life to all those who will come to him for salvation and for help.

His invitation is so sure: “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out”. [John 6:37]

Jesus also testifies of the ace He holds over every life circumstances saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” [Matthew 28:18].

Therefore when we come to Jesus and accept him by faith as the Captain of our war weary soul we have the confidence that He will make good his promise by leading us by the way of the overcomer.

The proviso for this overcoming peace is to come to Jesus. Many continue to fight a losing battle in life because they fail to realize that Satan the enemy of their soul wants to keep them blinded in bondage.

Satan would continually make them believe that they have control over their own lives even as they tumble from one defeat to another.

The Bible has a thing to say about these group of people described above:

“whose minds the god of this age [satan] has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them”.

2 Corinthians 4:4

The more we resist the government of Jesus over our heart by faith and refuse to accept his words the more we will find all of life’s glory as an elusive bunch of vanities.

Nothing will seek to satisfy us no matter how we try and no matter how much we achieve. Only a life governed by the rule of faith in Jesus finds everlasting peace.

An adventure through the book of Colossians 1:15-20 gives us a vivid description of Jesus’ ace over all things, saying “ that in all things He [Jesus] might have the preeminence [the ace] for it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell”.

Beloved, are you willing to accept Jesus as the Captain of your soul by yielding all your battles to Him and trusting Him to deliver you? Sadly not even many Christians have come to enjoy this peace.

Only if you will just call on the Lord Jesus today and you will begin to enjoy that restful, joyful and confident lifestyle knowing that He has all the ace over all your life’s circumstances.
