The depth of His Riches (Part 1)

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! Romans 11:33.

The ways God has set up his Kingdom as opposed to how the world sets up the glory of its own kingdom reveals the vastness and depth of His wisdom.

By extension, it means that the ways of God are so deep like the mighty ocean, and his wisdom past finding out like the vastness of the universe where the earth sits like a speck against the mighty stars of the universe.

Therefore, in establishing the laws of His Kingdom He made the spiritual more compelling than the material, he made the humble more attractive than the arrogant and calls those who treasure in the things of the world and not in the things of God’s Kingdom foolish.

He says: “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them because they are spiritually discerned”. 1 Cor. 2:14.

Little wonder Jesus praised His Father while on earth as he worked among men and saw how the rich and the poor responded to the call of the things of the Kingdom:

Jesus said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Matthew 11:25.

Who are the wise? Those who glory only in the material things of this world and in their abilities and therefore have concluded that they don’t need God as they enjoy the pleasures of life.

The wise in their own understanding, glory in this material life and with a disdain for the calling and demand of Christian living, say to themselves: “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” Luke 12:19.

Who are the babes or the foolish? Those who have the understanding, in humility, that they are eternally lost without God.

Those who know that there is a spiritual perspective to living which is way deeper than the temporary glory of this world and who have therefore decided to yield their lives to Jesus to see them through the myriads of life’s journey.

The babes have extolled the mercies of God in the atoning work of Christ on the cross above the glories of this world. They have given their lives to Jesus having the sacred understanding of the mercies of God which redeemed their souls from eternal damnation.

They are yielded to God and therefore have a deep understanding of God’s mercy, grace, goodness, and long-suffering towards sinners. They, therefore, have been given a revelation of the glory, riches of goodness of God having been genuinely born again.

While the world is rich in money, error, self-indulgence, and perversion the kingdom of God is rich in truth, holiness, righteousness, and love. While the world’s mammon deceives souls with false riches the Kingdom of God redeems the soul with true riches.

Now, while the worldly-minded man at the expense of his soul labor for riches to help project his ego and self-esteem, the spiritual man continually labors for the true riches of Christ until Jesus becomes the controlling center of his life.

That is why God does not commit material riches to his children if they haven’t passed the spiritual test of understanding the true riches of God because He knows they will use his wealth to serve the god of self like their worldly counterparts.
