Assurance of faith in an hour of Need.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”. (Hebrews 11:1).

So much has been written about faith to last a lifetime of studying. However, the word of God is new everyday because interpretations are divinely inspired to help us in this most turbulent era of human history.

The devil doesn’t rest from wrestling with the children of God for their divinely appointed promises, “ knowing that he has a short time”.

Therefore we shall be taking a fresh perspective on faith to help us find strength in an hour of need.

The definition of Faith in the book of Hebrews (Hebrews 11:1) remains valid and for those who have internalized it through mediation, it becomes an assurance by a God who doesn’t disappoint even if His promises tarry. (Habakkuk 2:3-4).

True believers understand that with faith comes a restful confidence having rid their own lives of hidden obstacles of sin.

They are therefore as bold as a lion with divine assurance of victory.

They know that sin is a clog in the wheel of faith therefore they continuously ask and rely on God’s grace to terminate the power of sin over their lives.

They have an understanding that sin is always seeking to steal from them and they have therefore become diligent in obeying God’s instructions.

In Genesis 4:7 we read an invigorating challenge to obey God and resist sin to obtain divine assurance:

“If you do well [believing Me and doing what is acceptable and pleasing to Me], will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well [but ignore My instruction], sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you [to overpower you], but you must master it.” ( Amplified Bible).

Having said this, now let us examine certain nuggets of assured faith to help us in our hour of need.

We must understand that our God is a God of promise and our relationship with Him is anchored to many sweet promises which are underpinned by his faithfulness.

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Numbers 23:19).

Knowing this, there is never a time to depend on God more than now when the world offers nothing but an uncertain future. Now is the time to release the reign of your life to Jesus. (Hebrew 6:18).

How do we access assured faith? Here are a few nuggets that will help us:

1.) Know and believe that there is a promise for you in God.

2. )Trust God to bring his promise to the past in due course.

3.) The foundation of God’s faithfulness is rooted firmly in his word therefore you must become familiar with the word of God and diligently apply them to your life.

4.) Faith is more than mere confession but action. After all the scripture says faith without works is dead.

5. )You must have the understanding that the promises of God are a finished product waiting to be served in God’s own time. Because a promise is delayed doesn’t invalidate its existence.

6.) When you understand the 5th principle above you will cease from helping your case through manipulation but trusting in God alone for help.

7.) Since the word of God and His promises are two sides of the same coin you must know how to use the word of God to challenge the opposition to breakthroughs in your life.

8.) Finally you must believe that Jesus Christ cares for you and wants the best for you. Therefore the assurance of faith is not based on what you want but based on God’s will for your life. This is why no child of God enjoys the promises of God more than the one who has surrendered his will and desire to Jesus.
