The depth of His Riches (Part 2)

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! Romans 11:33.

In Luke 16:11- 12, we read about this principle,
“If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?”

A  Christian who has an understanding of the true riches of God will not abandon the principle of the Kingdom of God in the pursuit of temporary wealth even at the risk of persecution from friends and family alike.

He would be resolute because he has arrived at the point of Moses’s confession spurred by the revelation of the divine who “considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward” Hebrew. 11:26.

The Lord is calling us again to re-examine our goals. Are we so consumed by the pursuit of riches and vainglory that we have abandoned the pursuit of the true riches of Christ?

Are we so fixated on the achievements of others to the extent that we have lost faith and focus on the owner of the true riches of life who is Jesus? The Bible says “ they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise”. 2 Cor. 10:12.

And for those who have once tasted the true riches of Christ but who have now backslidden into the purist of the world’s vainglory and now given in to its worldly pressure and pleasure, remember this:

“No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Luke 16:12-13.

God in His vast wisdom has hidden the keys to true material and spiritual prosperity in the pursuit of His Kingdom. He says “Seek you first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added to you”.

Worldly riches are what consume and finally exhaust the gentiles in the process of seeking it in their own strength forgetting that “It is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it”. Proverb 10:22.

We should remember that God blessed Solomon because he did not ask for worldly riches but for wisdom.

We should not wait until we are exhausted like millions who seek after the elusive and temporary riches of the world but we should make a decision while we still have the time now -as saved and unsaved.

We should reflect anew to turn our hearts to the pursuit of God’s true riches which are abundant in Christ Jesus as seek to know Him more and more.

And above all, we should ask ourselves the following questions: what is it that I daily give my strength to that is driving me like a slave master without a moment of rest? Christ or worldly pursuit?

May we receive the revelation of His true riches in Jesus name, amen.
