The mystery of His Promise

“He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things” Daniel 2:21-22.

What is a mystery? The dictionary describes a mystery as something that is difficult or impossible to understand or explain.

However, pertaining to the things of God it takes the special revelation of the Holy Spirit to unveil the mysteries of His wisdom behind his promises to His children.

Talking about His wisdom, certain mysteries are peculiar to God’s promises and we shall be exploring some of them.

1)No one can annul what God has promised his children. God’s promises for you are secured and confirmed. No wonder the Bible says, “For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who can annul it? And His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?” Isaiah 14:27.

The fact that things presently look bleak in your present situation doesn’t mean that God’s promises have been annulled. Someone said: God’s promises are like the stars; the darker the night the brighter they shine”. So, all you need to do is to stay the course and trust the wisdom behind His promise until the dawn breaks on you.

Here, we find Habakuk 2:3 instructive :

“This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”

2)Whenever it seems to an undiscerning child of God that a promise has been annulled because of delay or discouraging circumstances, he should understand that God’s promise in this situation is always being worked out in accordance to the mysteries of His divine wisdom.

In most cases, God works out his promises in a way we could never understand or imagined to bring about His promise.

For example, the Jews expected the Messiah to be an all-conquering King who would deliver Israel from all oppressors and lead them into a new golden age: a humble Carpenter who preached the Kingdom of God was not what they had in mind.

The mystery of God’s promise to redeem humanity shielded the redeemer’s works on earth from being thwarted by the devil until his work was perfected.

The Bible says “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” 1 Corinthians 2:7-8.

3)God’s promises are not an afterthought but were made before the foundation of the earth. Therefore God’s plans cannot be frustrated since they predate any threatening or discouraging circumstance.

So when a child of God arrives at a valley of doubt concerning God’s promises his heart should be assured that his situation cannot thwart a promise that has long been delivered to him.

Encouraging Jeremiah God spoke in the dimension of pre-existent wisdom saying,

“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that’s what I had in mind for you.” Jeremiah 5:1.

4)His promises are used to hewn and prune us to become mature in Christ. “Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit” John 15:2. Before a child of God can become ready for God’s outlandish promises he would be pruned like a branch of a tree.

The time of waiting is often the time of pruning where the idols of our hearts are revealed to us, a necessary precursor to the birthing of His perfect promises in our lives.

Without this pruning, most people may never be able to handle the promise of God successfully in their lives. Because Samson refused to be pruned his destiny became truncated.

Beloved, God’s promises can never fail because they are “Yea and Amen “.   our own part is to trust the process of God’s wisdom and His mysteries. (2 Corinthians 1:20),

However, the greatest promise of God was the lamb that was slain at the foundation of the earth. Rev. 13:8.

God put in place for mankind a plan since the foundation of the world in the person of Jesus Christ to save mankind from their sins. If you are yet to receive Jesus into your life as your Lord and Saviour there is no better time than now to confess and renounce your sins in the name of Jesus.
